For this project, students were directed to create their own country. The teacher gave a scenario which was "You have been shipwrecked on a desert island. You and the other members of your ship will have to begin from scratch and develop your own country. The first thing you need to do is create a map of the new country and of course, your country needs a name, as well as the cities and major landforms in the countries." I think this is a great project because it gets the students involved and is very fun. The students will enjoy coming up with names for their countries and creating what they look like. This is a great teaching strategy for the teacher because the students are learning what goes into countries like cities and landforms. They also are being familiarized with what a map looks like and how to create one.
